On April 10, Tianjin University Research Institute of Architectural Design and Planning Co., Ltd. participated in the 2024 Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Sustainable Development Industry Cooperation Conference. At the event, the Institute signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Mongolia’s PETROVIS Petroleum Company.
As the first supporting event of the SCO Summit, the conference brought together nearly 400 government and business representatives from SCO member states in Tianjin. A total of 18 key projects were signed on-site, covering vital sectors including new energy, new materials, and infrastructure. Ling Ji, Vice Minister of Commerce and China International Trade Representative, and Li Wenhai, Vice Mayor of Tianjin, attended and addressed the gathering.
During the signing ceremony, Zhang Xizhi, Party Secretary and Chairman of the Institute, and Delergen, First Vice President of PETROVIS, jointly signed the MOU focused on the design of PETROVIS’s new headquarters building.
“This collaboration represents a significant milestone in our institute’s international expansion,” said Zhang in an interview with Tianjin Television. “China’s construction industry has seen remarkable growth in recent years, accumulating rich experience. We will integrate green and low-carbon principles into this project and contribute to the global presence of Chinese architectural expertise.”
PETROVIS has placed high expectations on its new headquarters, aiming to establish it as a modern landmark in Ulaanbaatar. In preparation for the project, Hou Kai, Business Manager of the Institute’s International Division, and Zheng Tao, Design Director of Yuan Shang Studio, traveled to Ulaanbaatar this February to present the initial proposal to PETROVIS’s board. On March 25, board member Enkhtsimeg visited the Institute in Tianjin to review the revised plan.
In recent years, the Institute has actively pursued overseas projects, with successful ventures in countries including Equatorial Guinea, Canada, Malaysia, and India, steadily advancing the internationalization of “TJU Design.”
