The layout of the Students’ Dormitory Buildings at Peiyangyuan Campus is designed with a focus on student welfare. The 24 enclosed buildings are strategically located around academic facilities and near dining halls, supermarkets, and other essential services, housing approximately 20,000 students. The dormitory buildings form a courtyard that encloses all four sides. The names of each building—Ge Yuan, Zhi Yuan(知园), Cheng Yuan, Zheng Yuan, Xiu Yuan, Qi Yuan, Zhi Yuan(治园), and Ping Yuan—are derived from the eight steps for self-perfection as outlined in The Book of Rites and The Great Learning. These steps include learning from nature (gewu), pursuing the truth (zhizhi), remaining honest to one’s heart (chengyi), practicing temperance (zhengxin), perfecting one’s personality (xiushen), harmonizing one’s family (qijia), managing one’s country (zhiguo), and restoring peace to the world (pingtianxia).
The standard accommodation arrangement consists of: four undergraduates sharing a room, two graduate students sharing a room, and PhD students residing in individual rooms. The dormitory fee is 1,200 yuan per person per year. Additionally, the university provides full-time married PhD students with specialized couples’ apartments.
Each apartment building comes equipped with an entrance guard, automatic gates, a security monitoring system, an electronic information distribution system, and fire escape windows. The self-service desk includes hot plates, hair dryers, microwave ovens, and other essential facilities.
The dormitory buildings for undergraduates and graduate students are fully equipped with laundry facilities, study areas, and ample public activity spaces. Each floor contains public shower rooms, water fountains, and free solar-heated water for washing. Full-time PhD students are provided with single rooms that include independent toilet and shower facilities.
Each room is furnished with essential items, including beds, air conditioning, and a water dispenser. The Office of Students’ Living Quarters Management and Service Center on Peiyangyuan Campus is responsible for ideological and political education, cultural initiatives, and the routine allocation and management of accommodations.
Tianjin University has partnered with Dongwu Property Management Company, Aramark Property Management Company, and Zhonghang Property Management Company through an open bidding process to enhance services including the guard tour system, entrance guard system, public sanitation management, facilities repair and maintenance, and other routine services.

Each room is equipped with a bed, a desk, and an independent toilet and shower room. The Service Counter is located in the hall of Liu Yuan A District, providing comprehensive support to meet the needs of international students.

Dining Halls at Peiyangyuan Campus
The Peiyangyuan Campus of Tianjin University features five common canteens, one canteen for international students, one Muslim canteen, and two dining rooms for faculty. Covering an area of approximately 30,000 square meters, these facilities cater to the dining needs of approximately 7,000 individuals simultaneously. Dining options on the first floor provide basic meals for all students and faculty, while offerings on the second floor feature a broader variety of culinary flavors to satisfy diverse tastes.
In response to the increasing demand for improved food preferences, Tianjin University has engaged reputable catering companies, including Chinese Fast Food (Tianjin) & Beverage Management Limited Company, Beijing Kinghey Food Management Limited Company, Suzhou Industrial Park Branch Bridge Catering Service Co. Ltd., and Lanzhou MA Tianfu Restaurant Management Co. Ltd., to enhance dining services at Peiyangyuan Campus.
To ensure quality, the Canteen Management Office displays the canteen manager's photo and contact information on notice boards across the Peiyangyuan Campus canteens and has established a Student Group Committee to gather feedback. Additionally, plans are underway to create a Teachers Group Committee to ensure staff opinions and suggestions are addressed promptly. The Canteen Management Office has also established a pesticide residue testing laboratory to guarantee the quality of all food raw materials.
The first floor of the Liuyuan canteen provides limited catering services, featuring a Corner Bar that offers cocktails, coffee, pizza, hot dogs, desserts, and other items suitable for gatherings with family and friends. The second floor, referred to as Daxuezhidao, includes the Taishilan Asian Delicacy Restaurant, Hibiscus Flowers Korean Cuisine, Yixi Café, and No. 92 West Restaurant, which can accommodate business meetings, buffet parties, small shows, and various food services.
