Tianjin University Wins Award for CERNET Contributions

The 30th Anniversary Conference of the China Education and Research Network (CERNET) and the 30th CERNET Academic Annual Conference were held on December 24, 2024, in Beijing. The event recognized units and individuals that made significant contributions to CERNET’s development over the past three decades. Tianjin University was honored with the "Outstanding Contribution Unit Award for CERNET's 30th Anniversary." Additionally, Yu Ruiguo and Meng Shaoqing received the "Individual Outstanding Contribution Award," while Li Ke, Sun Shaowei, and Zhao Yue were presented with the "Individual Distinguished Contribution Award."

The university’s Deputy Party Secretary, Han Qinghua, attended the conference. During the 2024 China Higher Education CIO Forum, he emphasized the importance of universities seizing the new development opportunities brought by artificial intelligence (AI) technology. He advocated for the formulation of AI-driven educational strategies to support the high-quality development of China’s higher education system.

As a key participant in the construction of CERNET in North China, Tianjin University has worked alongside CERNET for the past 30 years. The university has successfully completed various construction and operational tasks and has been awarded the "Excellent Unit" title for several consecutive years. Looking ahead, Tianjin University will continue to collaborate with CERNET, striving to make even greater contributions to the modernization of education in China.
