Azerbaijani Student Wins Top Honor in China Storytelling Event

He Yan, an international student from Azerbaijan at Tianjin University, was awarded the Grand Prize in the advanced category of the fifth “Stories of China Retold in English” Challenge (Domestic Foreign Students Category). The event attracted nearly 1,000 participants from 91 universities across 84 countries and regions.

He’s story, titled “Chasing the Chinese Dream, Cherishing My Youth”, detailed his personal experiences of studying and living in China. His fluent presentation and insightful reflections on Chinese culture earned unanimous praise from the judging panel and secured him a place in the national finals in Beijing.

Organized to promote cross-cultural understanding through first-hand accounts, the competition highlights the diverse perspectives of international students in China. He’s achievement reflects the high level of international education at Tianjin University and the growing global engagement of its student community.

He Yan will represent Tianjin University in the upcoming national final round in Beijing.
