University of Reading Delegation Visits Tianjin University

On the morning of May 9, a delegation from the University of Reading led by Vice-Chancellor Robert Van de Noort visited Tianjin University. President Chai Liyuan and Vice President Ming Dong met with the guests at the Conference Building on the Weijin Road Campus. Representatives from the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange and the College of Management and Economics also participated in the meeting.

Chai Liyuan extended a warm welcome to the delegation and offered a comprehensive overview of Tianjin University’s rich history and recent achievements in scientific research and international collaboration. He highlighted the existing foundation of cooperation between the two universities and expressed his hope that the visit would serve as a new starting point for further deepening ties, particularly in joint education programs and talent cultivation.

Robert Van de Noort expressed his admiration for Tianjin University’s long-standing heritage and academic accomplishments. He introduced the development of the University of Reading, which boasts a history of nearly 100 years and holds strong research capabilities in meteorology, economics, and management. He noted that the Henley Business School, part of the University of Reading, is one of the oldest business schools in the UK. Van de Noort voiced his anticipation for future collaboration between the two historic institutions.

During the visit, the delegation held a working meeting with Vice President Ming Dong and representatives from relevant departments to discuss potential areas for future cooperation and to explore concrete steps for moving forward.
