Academia Meets Industry: Strategic Dialogue at Tianjin University

On April 15, Tianjin University welcomed a delegation of distinguished business leaders to its Peiyangyuan Campus for a high-level dialogue on university-industry cooperation. The visiting delegation included Xu Kaihua, Chairman of GEM Co., Ltd.; Yang Jinhong, Chairman of Xiamen Tungsten New Energy Materials Co., Ltd.; and Zhang Bao, Chairman of Power New Energy Co., Ltd. Professor Chai Liyuan, President of Tianjin University and Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, attended the meeting and held in-depth discussions with the guests. The meeting was chaired by Professor Liu Xiuguo, Assistant to the President.

President Chai Liyuan extended a warm welcome to the visiting delegation and highlighted Tianjin University's cutting-edge research achievements across multiple disciplines. He emphasized the university’s commitment to fostering innovation-driven development and expressed the hope that, through strong partnerships with leading enterprises, these scientific advances could be transformed into tangible societal and economic value. He called for enhanced integration of industry, academia, and research to jointly address national development demand.

The three visiting chairmen introduced their respective companies’ strategic focuses and expressed keen interest in deepening collaboration with Tianjin University. They identified opportunities for cooperation in technology innovation, research commercialization, and talent development, aligning with their industries' evolving demands.
