Satbayev and Tianjin Universities Forge Strategic Partnership

On the afternoon of April 11, Tianjin University and Satbayev University of Kazakhstan formalized their partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Peiyangyuan Campus. The ceremony was attended by Professor Ming Dong, Vice President of Tianjin University, and Professor Samgat Yermekbayev, First Vice Rector of Satbayev University.

In his remarks, Ming Dong extended a cordial welcome to the visiting delegation and provided an overview of Tianjin University’s historical legacy, disciplinary strengths, and international engagement in recent years. He noted that Satbayev University, as Kazakhstan’s oldest and most renowned technical university, holds significant academic influence in fields such as petroleum engineering and green technologies. These strengths align closely with Tianjin University’s strategic priorities under China’s "Building Double First-Class University" initiative. Ming expressed confidence that the signing of the MoU would lay a solid foundation for substantive and mutually beneficial collaboration in the years to come.

Yermekbayev highly commended Tianjin University’s academic reputation and its achievements in fostering international partnerships. He introduced Satbayev University’s ongoing efforts in curriculum development, scientific research, and global engagement, emphasizing its strong commitment to deepening cooperation with Chinese institutions. He expressed hope that the two universities would enhance academic dialogue, explore innovative models for talent cultivation, and work jointly to advance the internationalization of higher education.

Following the signing ceremony, the delegation from Satbayev University toured the Basic Experimental Center and the Technical Laboratory Center of the School of Chemical Engineering and Technology. Faculty members from both institutions engaged in in-depth discussions on frontier research areas and potential avenues for collaboration.

The signing of the MoU marks a significant milestone in the institutional relations between Tianjin University and Satbayev University. Both parties are committed to fostering a robust partnership aimed at cultivating high-caliber talent, addressing critical technological challenges, and contributing to the development of a closer China-Kazakhstan community with a shared future. The collaboration aspires to build enduring academic bridges between the two nations, further enriching China-Kazakhstan relations through the transformative power of science and education.
