TJU Delegation Visits Polytech Nice Sophia to Advance Academic Cooperation

On April 9, 2025, a delegation led by Wu Yan, Vice-Minister of Education, visited Polytech Nice Sophia in France to promote academic cooperation. Lei Ming, Executive Deputy Secretary of Tianjin University, headed the university delegation, accompanied by Liu Yanli, Deputy Dean of the School of Future Technology and the International Engineering Institute.

During the visit, President Alexandre Caminada extended a warm welcome to the delegation. He acknowledged Tianjin University as a key strategic partner, highlighting existing collaborations in faculty exchange, student mobility, and joint curriculum development. Caminada expressed strong interest in deepening cooperation and exploring new opportunities for mutual growth.

Lei Ming reviewed the significant achievements since the two institutions signed their cooperation agreement in 2016, noting that Tianjin University’s International Engineering Institute is preparing for its third CTI accreditation in the coming year. She expressed hope for continued support from Polytech Nice Sophia and extended invitations to both President Caminada and Vice Minister Wu to attend the upcoming International Conference on Engineering Education Development, which will be held in September as part of Tianjin University’s 130th anniversary celebrations.

Vice Minister Wu emphasized the enduring spirit of openness, mutual learning, and strategic partnership between Chinese and French higher education institutions. He called for greater collaboration in areas such as resource sharing, policy innovation, and reform of engineering education, with the aim of cultivating a forward-looking talent development framework. He also stressed the importance of joint platforms for student exchange and research cooperation to foster a China-France educational community and contribute to the advancement of global civilization.

Following the formal discussions, Lei Ming and President Caminada held in-depth talks on key issues including the role of quality assurance in CTI accreditation, the integration of internships into the Sino-French engineering education model, and the need to strengthen university-industry collaboration.
