On April 8, 2025, during a research trip in Xining, Tianjin University President and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Chai Liyuan, visited alumni in Qinghai and held a discussion session with them. He was accompanied by Hu Wenping, the university’s Executive Vice President and member of the university’s Party Committee.
The group visited Xining’s Xijian Chinese-English School, founded by alumni Li Dawei, for a tour and communication session with local alumni. During the meeting, alumni shared their gratitude for the education they received at Tianjin University and discussed their career and life experiences.
Chai Liyuan listened attentively to the alumni’s feedback and achievements in their respective fields. He praised their contributions and expressed appreciation for their long-standing support of the university’s development. He highlighted how alumni in Qinghai have not only contributed to local development but also enhanced Tianjin University’s reputation.
Chai encouraged the local alumni organizations to act as catalysts for regional development, helping the university achieve its goal of becoming a world-class institution. He also assured that Tianjin University would continue to integrate various resources to address alumni’s concerns, support alumni enterprises, and remain a steadfast ally for its alumni.
He also emphasized the university’s commitment to regional economic development, stating that Tianjin University would continue to leverage its technological expertise to foster local growth in Qinghai. He called on alumni to remain connected with the university and return for future gatherings.
This year marks the 130th anniversary of Tianjin University. As the university celebrates this milestone, alumni will continue to work hand-in-hand with their alma mater to further the university's mission and spread its spirit across Qinghai.
After the meeting, Chai Liyuan and his team visited the Qinghai Silk Road International Logistics City for further research.
