Chai Liyuan Meets Delegation from Benxi and Shenyang Pharmaceutical University

On March 27, a delegation led by Sun Fuchun, Mayor of Benxi, and Cheng Maosheng, President of Shenyang Pharmaceutical University, visited Tianjin University. Chai Liyuan, President of Tianjin University and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, met with the delegation at Peiyangyuan Campus. Both sides explored deeper cooperation in the silver economy, biotechnology innovation, and industry-academia collaboration.

Sun Fuchun introduced Benxi’s efforts to develop a biopharmaceutical and health industry cluster during the 14th Five-Year Plan period. He expressed hope that Tianjin University would strengthen cooperation in elderly rehabilitation aids, biomedical materials, and smart healthcare systems to foster new productive forces and revitalize Northeast China's industrial base.

Cheng Maosheng praised Tianjin University’s interdisciplinary strengths and highlighted the potential for collaboration in traditional drug formulation research. He looked forward to advancing joint efforts in pharmaceutical research, talent cultivation, and major scientific projects.

Chai Liyuan welcomed the delegation and emphasized Tianjin University’s focus on integrating medicine and engineering. He pledged to leverage the university's strengths to align with Benxi’s industrial goals and enhance strategic cooperation with Shenyang Pharmaceutical University, building an innovation ecosystem spanning basic research, technological breakthroughs, and results transformation.

The delegation also toured Tianjin University’s Institute of Medical Robotics and Intelligent Systems and the Haihe Laboratory for Brain-Computer Interfaces and Human-Machine Integration.
