Tianjin University Hosts 2025 New Year Concert

On the evening of December 20, the 2025 New Year Concert, themed "Harmony in the Moment",captivated audiences at the Tianjin Grand Theater Concert Hall. Over 150 faculty members and students from Tianjin University's Peiyang Chinese Orchestra and Peiyang Wind Band delivered an extraordinary performance, heralding the new year with a spectacular musical celebration. Nearly a thousand attendees, including students, alumni, and members of the broader community, enjoyed the concert.

The first half of the concert featured the Peiyang Chinese Orchestra under the baton of resident conductor Jia Aiting. The ensemble opened with the iconic Chinese percussion piece Dragon Soaring and Tiger Leaping, followed by selections from Harmony of Seven Colors, a suite celebrating the unity of China's ethnic groups. The orchestra also performed the lyrical Qingqing Longing, evoking picturesque landscapes, and a vibrant rendition of A Lifetime of Loving You, the theme from The Legend of the Condor Heroes, which energized the audience with its powerful melodies and interactive spirit.

The second half showcased the Peiyang Wind Band, led by chief conductor Li Bei. The band presented a series of compelling pieces, including The Way of the King: Latin Fantasy, a lively and melodious work that radiated festive energy; Fortune of Inquiry, a composition reflecting people's pursuit of happiness; and a wind arrangement of the classic Chinese folk song In That Distant Place. The program masterfully blended Western and Chinese musical traditions, highlighting the universal appeal of great music.

In recent years, Tianjin University has strengthened its collaboration with the Tianjin Grand Theater, hosting annual New Year concerts that reflect the university’s dedication to promoting aesthetic education.
