Zhang Xuyang: My Architecture Dream at Tianjin University

Self-Introduction

I’m Zhang Xuyang, a freshman at Tianjin University’s School of Architecture.

Tsinghua University Campus was where I had been educated from kindergarten to primary school, and then the Affiliated High School of Peking University, located in Daniwasn, Haidian District, offered me further education before university. I have a passion for art and sports, particularly seen in painting and soccer. During my high school years, as the president of the Costume Design Association, I helped organize various interesting activities, including school costume design, school fashion brand products development and so on. Those have cultivated my curiosity and creative thinking, and my confidence as well as coordinating ability. As the captain of the college’s women soccer team, I often watched games and discussed strategies and techniques with schoolmates in my leisure time. Organizing training and games was also my duty. It was a process of enjoying sports, which did foster our team spirit and improve physical fitness.

Painting - Another Perspective to See the World

Zhang Xuyang loves painting, and she has produced many intriguing works. Her vivid imagination and superb painting capability lead us to a fantastic venture.

Architecture- Her Lifelong Passion

Influenced by her family, Zhang came to know architecture in her childhood. Since then, she has been regarding it as a lifelong passion.

“Enjoying a time-honored history, TJU’s Architecture School has cultivated many eminent masters and produced numerous well-known architects. So I expect to be a member of it and improve myself there“, said Zhang.

When Zhang was a child, her parents often took her on business, visiting museums and ancient architectures. Those beautiful and interesting works made her realize that they were not only the place we live, but wonderful aesthetic experience. More importantly, painting and design are what Zhang is keen on. All these usher her into the amazing architecture world.

Before National College Entrance Examination, she created a cartoon picture as a self-encourage token. After getting admitted by TJU, she sent it to all dream chasers, hoping every student could get into their dream university.

“This was created before the examination, inspiring me to spend every effort in this important battle. I wish the Class of 2023 could get satisfying outcome in next year’s exam.” said Zhang. She also advised potential examinees to carefully listen to and follow teachers and to recite necessary content in advance.
