Another Six New First-Class Undergraduate Major Construction Sites Approved

Recently, the List of National and Provincial First-class Undergraduate Major Construction Sites in 2021 was announced by the Ministry of Education, and all the six major construction sites declared by the CoME of Tianjin University (TJU) were successfully approved. Among them, five majors were approved as national first-class undergraduate major construction sites and one major was approved as provincial first-class undergraduate major construction site.

Up to now, all the 9 undergraduate majors of CoME have been approved as first-class undergraduate major construction sites, including 8 national majors and 1 provincial major.

The CoMEinsists on the fundamental task of fostering integrity and promoting rounded development of people as the fundamental task of education, attaches great importance to the undergraduate talent training and professional construction, promotes the transformation and upgrading of traditional majors and condenses the direction of professional characteristics. Meanwhile, faculty members in CoME are encouraged to actively participate in the educational reform subjects and carry out innovation in teaching methods or modes. CoME adheres to strengthen the integration of education with industry for collaborative educational process, enhance the level of undergraduate professional construction and continuously promote the improvement of talent cultivation quality.

It is reported that in April 2019, theMinistry of Education, together with 14 central departments and units, initiated the "Six Excellence and One Brilliance" plan 2.0 at TJU, launching the "Four New" construction led by "Emerging Engineering Education" to comprehensively revitalize undergraduate education. Up to now, in the construction of "Double 10,000 Programs" for first-class majors, TJU has been approved to construct 69 first-class undergraduate majors, including 54 national majors and 15 provincial majors. TJU has a 100% coverage rate in majors, which ranks among the top of national universities.
