Li Qingbiao, president of Jimei University and an alumnus of Tianjin University, visited Tianjin University recently for investigation and survey during which he attempted to foster pair assistance, and furthered understanding of major laboratories on marine science, port and information technology (computer and information).
Sun Guangping, deputy secretary of CPC and secretary of Committee for Discipline Inspection of Tianjin University, chaired a symposium with the guests at Weijin Road Campus. The attendees were representatives from Office of the Party Committee and President, Office of Strategic Planning, Office of Human Resources, Office of Student Affairs, Graduate School, Office of Science and Technology, Office of International Cooperation, Alumni and Fund Affairs Office, School of Mechanical Engineering, School of Microelectronics, School of Intelligence and Computing, School of Civil Engineering and School of Chemical Engineering and Technology.
Sun extended the warmest welcome to the delegation, and illustrated the long history and latest development of Tianjin University, noting his expectation for closer cooperation and exchanges with Jimei University with the aim of win-win outcomes.
Li introduced both history and the specialties of Jimei University, an educational institution of more than one hundred years’ history, and voiced his great affection for his alma mater. He observed that Jimei University, with an edge on achievements transformation as well as resources extension and marine scientific research related to Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, hoped to deepen collaboration with Tianjin University on high-level personnel, pair assistance in science and technology, talent cultivation, international exchanges and cooperation and discipline construction.
The participants agreed on taking practical measures to push forward mutual ties and had in-depth discussion on significant affairs.
