Experimental Cabin of VRLab Put into Operation

Recently, an Experimental Cabin of the Virtual Reality Lab of Architectural Environment (VRLab) was put into operation. Jointly built by the Institute of Architectural History & Theory (TJU) and the VRLab, the Experimental Cabin is also open to the public as an exhibition hall of architectural heritage Informatization.

The cabin is equipped with current mainstream head-mounted VR systems (HTC VIVE, HTC VIVE Pro Eye, Oculus Rift), AR interactive display systems (Hololens, Hololens 2), omnidirectional VR motion platform (Virtux Omni), 3-screen splicing projection VR interactive system, multi-type flight platform for low-altitude digital heritage acquisition (8-rotor DJI S1000+, Phantom 4 RTK, Phantom 4, Mavic Pro1&2), and an EEG brain electricity and physiological signal acquisition and analysis platform for cognitive research. Meanwhile, based on Unity3D and UE,two mainstream virtual reality platforms, the lab works on cognitive experiments andthe development of various types of heritage exhibition projects.

Founded in 2013, the Virtual Reality Lab of Architectural Environment at Tianjin University’s School of Architecture is affiliated to the "Key Laboratories under the Ministry of Information Technology, Culture and Tourism on Inheriting Architectural Culture (TJU)". Opening Hours: Friday 9:00 am --- 11:30 am. VR demonstration services will be provided.
