On April 18th, the final of the 11th Chinese Mathematical Competition came to a close at Wuhan University in Hubei Province. Wu Wenzhi from the School of Mathematics, got the 1st prize among mathematical senior group, the best achievement TJU students ever attained in this kind of competition. Li Siyu from the School of Mathematics was the winner of the 3rd prize in the same group while Hu Hui from the School of Precision Institution and Opto-Electronics Engineering and Sun Qiangwei from Qiushi Honor College won the 1st and 2nd prizes of non-mathematical groups, respectively. Overall, TJU contestants hit an all-time record high this year.
The Chinese Mathematical Competition, hosted by the Chinese Mathematical Society, is a national level discipline competition designed for undergraduates. The number of the participants this year reached 170,787. It is one of the most influential competitions in China.
Wu Wenzhi, a junior student from Qiushi Mathematical Class at the School of Mathematics, was the Outstanding Winner of the Excellence Alliance Mathematical Competition. He also won the first prize in the preliminary of the Chinese Mathematical Competition, topping among all participants. He was onced reported by the Wechat official account of People’s Daily for he got full credits for nearly every exam in the past three-year college life.
The Qiushi Mathematical Class is an experiential class to cultivate creative talents by way of innovative teaching philosophy and service modes.
Students in this class enjoy one-to-one tutoring and have access to various lectures and non-credit mathematical seminars.
