World Book and Copyright Day: Let’s read

On April 23, the World Book and Copyright Day, Tianjin University launched a 21-day-long reading campaign and fostered a series of signature reading promotion programs.

As the year marks the centenary of the Communist Party of China (CPC), the campaign promoted the reading of key publications on the history of CPC, the country, the reform and opening up and socialist development and released a reading list that recommends 20 books.

Faculty and staff, including retiree are encouraged to join students and lead them in reading via extracurricular courses, lectures and seminars.

Students can also access to some books for free as the university library promised to purchase the books students most want to read online. The library also improves its digital reading service and organizes activities like Daily Reading Challenge, Video Sharing Session and 24-hour Cloud Reading to make it more convenient for students to read online.

Since 2016 when the university started its first annual reading event, Tianjin University has always been trying to cultivate students’ reading habit and cultural confidence.
