New Mode of Talent Training:TJU Launches First Micro Program

As a pioneer of modern higher education in China, Tianjin University (TJU) has been actively exploring new modes of talent training. In 2020, TJU officially launched the Micro Program, aiming to promote the reform of talent training with the up-to-date needs of industrial development.

The Micro Program will offer a group ofcore courses centering on a specific academic field, research direction or the improvement of key competences. It adopts a flexible and systematic training system where students can choose to take courses both online and offline. Whoever completes the relevant courses and passes the examination will get a program certification.

On November 14, the kick-off meeting of the first Micro Program on Project Investment and Financing was held at the conference building on old campus.

Huo Bao-Feng, Head of the College of Management and Economics shared in the meeting that the Program was committed to cultivating professionals in engineering investment and financing who possess inter-disciplinary knowledge and have a deep understanding of finance, accounting, law and risk control. He said that the College of Management and Economics (CoME) would strive to construct an influential Micro program that cultivates many high-level talents in related fields.

Liu Jun-ying, the program leader, Director of the Engineering Management Department at CoME further explained that students participating the program were supposed to be familiar with project management theories, investment and financing environments, and the capacity to make investment and financing decisions and manage the project risks in the whole process.
