Five Projects Selected for Entrepreneurship Annual Conference

The 13th National College Students' Innovation and Entrepreneurship Annual Conference (hereinafter referred to as the Annual Conference) was held in Chongqing University from October 30 to November 1. It was organized by the expert group of the National Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Plan for College Students (hereinafter referred to as the "National Innovation Plan") and undertaken by Chongqing University. With "pooling wisdom of youth to create bright future" as its theme, this Annual Conference exhibited the college students' innovation and entrepreneurship projects from 299 universities in various ways, including online and offline.

During the annual conference, various activities were held in diversified and colorful ways, displaying the innovative and entrepreneurial works of college students intensively through academic reports, business roadshows, on-site exhibitions and network displays, with a large number of excellent academic achievements and brilliant ideas emerging. A total of 875 projects received this year, among them 202 academic papers, 200 exchange projects, and 58 entrepreneurship promotion projects were selected.

Five projects from Tianjin University got awarded, ranking first among universities in Tianjin and fourth in China. Among them, "A Study on the High Yield of Pentamethylene Diamine by Biological Method of Recombinant Escherichia coli", the project of School of Chemical Engineering and Technology, and "a Study on the Construction of Injectable High-strength Hydrogel through Microgel Self-repair", the project of College of Materials Science and Engineering, were presented as academic papers. The project leaders Zheng Yunxin and Ma Zhenyu conducted academic exchanges on behalf of their teams.

"All-fiber Sensing Robot" of School of Precision Instrument and Opto-Electronics Engineering, "Structural Design and Development of Energy-Saving Racing Car" of Qiushi Honors College and "Research on Automatic Navigation System of Lidar Unmanned Vehicle Based on Single Chip Microcomputer" of IT discipline innovation and entrepreneurship training base were selected for experience exchanges.

In addition, Tianjin University won the Excellent Organization Award at the 13th National College Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Annual Conference.

Gong Jinlong, the team leader and vice president of Tianjin University, delivered a speech at the closing ceremony. He pointed out that innovation and entrepreneurship education is an important carrier to implement the strategies of rejuvenating the country through science and education, strengthening the country through talents, and innovation-driven development. The "State Innovation Plan" is an important starting point to deepen the reform of innovation and entrepreneurship education. This annual conference is the first exploration and practice of "online + offline" organization mode with Chongqing characteristics and the style of Chongqing University". It has accumulated rich experience to innovate the communication modes of Annual Conference, reflected the principle of "interest driven, independent practice, process focusing", and promoted vigorous development of innovation and entrepreneurship education in universities.

Gong Jinlong stressed that, the CPC Central Committee and the State Council issuedthe General Plan for Deepening the Reform of Education Evaluation in the New Erarecently, advocating the concept of cultivating talent scientifically, adhering to the principles - morality first, ability priority, integrated development, cultivating innovative spirit, strengthening entrepreneurship consciousness, and enhancing entrepreneurship and innovative ability. Under the care and guidance of the Ministry of Education, the expert group of National College Students' Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Plan between 2020 to 2023 was formally established. In the next step, the expert group will continue to develop and design the management system of "National Innovation Plan", and improve the system construction of it in combination with the latest progress in the construction of "Four New" (new engineering, new medicine, new agriculture, new liberal arts), the in-depth promotion of the "quality revolution" in higher education, and the urgent needs of teachers and students so as to provide students more choices, more room for innovation and entrepreneurship, and unlimited possibilities.

The Annual Conference is an important annual activity based on the "National College Students' Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Plan". It is one of the most extensive, influential, well-participated and highest-level events in the undergraduate teaching reform in China. Since 2008, it has been held for 13 sessions, aiming to further deepen the innovation and entrepreneurship education reform in universities, strengthen the exchange and communication between universities, build platforms of innovation and entrepreneurship exchange for students, display the achievements of innovation and entrepreneurship education in universities, and promote their innovation and entrepreneurship education as well as cultural construction.
