In the wake of pandemic control and prevention, the finals of the "National College Students Mechanical Products Digital Design Competition" was held online on October 26, 2020. After preliminary on-campus selection and online evaluation, two teams of Tianjin University entered the final stage of the competition. Xie Weili, Wu Haoyu and Zhang Bojian, undergraduate students from Tianjin University’s School of Mechanical Engineering won the first prize with their project of "Assembling High-precision Axle-hole Robot Hand Claws". The team of Tang Yibo, Cong Ren and Liu Xiaomei won the second prize for their project of "A Multi-functional Deformable Robot Arm Mounted on a Mobile Platform on the Lunar Surface".
The National College Students' Mechanical Product Digital Design Contest is approved by the Ministry of Education, sponsored by Mechanical Teaching Steering Committee and national Experimental Teaching Demonstration and organized by Autodesk Software (China) Co., Ltd. and Wuchang Shouyi College. With the theme of "Grabbing Accurately, Taking Easily ", the competition focuses on the design of smart hands. A total of 400 teams from 62 universities and colleges participated in the competition and 107 teams from 39 universities entered the final.
