Tianjin University is one of the earliest universities in China to carry out cultural heritage protection. As early as the 1940s, the predecessor of the School of Architecture left valuable surveying and mapping data for the construction of the Forbidden City. Since the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the university has successively completed the surveying and mapping work of Ming and Qing imperial buildings such as the Imperial Qianlong Garden, Jianfu Palace Garden, Ming Dynasty Tombs, Beihai Park, Temple of Heaven, Summer Palace. The establishment of Beijing Institute of Ancient Architecture aims to rely on the strong scientific research strength and valuable experience of Tianjin University to facilitate the cultural heritage protection of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
