Jin Donghan attends the University Presidents Forum

This September, the university president forum for the 80th anniversary of Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) was held in Beijing Friendship Hotel. The theme of the forum was "Challenges and Opportunities – How Changing World Pattern Influences Higher Education".

Jin Donghan, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and President of Tianjin University, attended the forum and delivered a keynote report. About innovation and development of China's higher education, he had in-depth discussions with other participants.

Xiang Changle the Executive Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of BIT hosted the forum. Zhao Changlu, Secretary of the Party committee of BIT, as well as other university leaders, delivered speeches and made keynote reports on the theme of the forum.

Where education prospers, the country prospers. The presidents concentrated on the new challenges and changes of China's higher education, jointly discussed the development of Emerging Engineering Education that fits in with the new era, the new paradigm of innovative and collaborative education.

Jin Donghan delivered a report entitled “Emerging Engineering Education in Post-epidemic Era - Challenges, Opportunities and Actions" at the forum. He pointed out  that during the post-epidemic era, it is essential to focus on the changes in the production chain and innovation chain, as well as the structural reforms of engineering talent cultivation.

As the frontier field of engineering education reform and innovation, Emerging Engineering Education is facing new challenges, opportunities and choices in the post-epidemic era. He briefly introduced Tianjin University’s plan for emerging engineering education, the Coherent Collaborative Interdisciplinary Innovative, or CCII, and proposed to break the "barrier" among colleges and majors, teaching and research fields, and schools and societies.

Jin also pointed out that we should reconstructed the curriculum system by taking advantages of projects, building shared platforms, creating a new education community and strengthening the innovative education to provide talents for the great rejuvenation of our nation.

This forum aims to build an exchange platform for colleges and universities to exchange ideas and practical experience. It also accelerates building a word-class university with Chinese characteristics and advancing the modernization of education. Leaders of more than 20 universities and representatives of teachers and students of BIT attended the forum.
