On August 21, sponsored by China Society of Logistics (CSL) and China Federation of Logistics & Purchasing, the 13th Industry-Academia-Research Collaboration Conference in the field of logistics was held in Manzhouli, Inner Mongolia. With its exploration and achievements in the innovative development of industry-academia-research collaboration, the Department of Operation and Supply Chain Management of TJU won the title of "2019 Excellent Industry-Academia-Research Base". Professor Liu Wei-hua, Head of the Department, gave a speech on behalf of the department and communicated with other guests at the conference.
The Department of Operations and Supply Chain Management of TJU was one of the first batch of industry-academia-research bases awarded by CSL, which represents the recognition of its achievements by people from all walks of life.
Cutting-Edge Focus
Focusing on improving innovation ability and solving technical problems in key fields, the faculty and students of the base have hosted and participated in a number of national scientific research projects. In addition, the scientific research strength of the department has also been further improved. The number of papers published in high-level international journals has been repeatedly increased. The teachers successively published (accepted) more than 30 high-level papers in Transportation Research Part E: Logistics and Transportation Review, Journal of Business Logistics, International Journal of Operations & Production Management, International Journal of Production Economics, Information Technology &People and other international high-level journals.
Innovative Practice
Faculty of the Department of Operations and Supply Chain Management actively served enterprises and national industrial development and carried out a series of innovative practices. In 2019, they presided over a number of logistics industry-academia-research projects, such asR esearch on Quota Analysis and Evaluation of Shanghai Metro Material Inventory Index,Research on The Mode and Path of The Platform Transformation of Highway Freight Transport Enterprises and Research on Port Crisis Management and Operation Optimization. Supported by those projects, the faculty received funding from Tianjin Municipal Education Commission. They had also submitted a series of think tank reports, which were adopted by policymakers. One of the reports was included in the book 2020 China Economic Forecast and Prospect and was reported on by mainstream media such as CCTV, China Economic Net and Sina Finance.
Win-Win Strategy
The base has attached great importance to enhance students’ practical ability by innovating teaching method and improving lab construction. It also built win-win partnership with enterprises which help train students with social practice. In 2019, the base actively established long-term strategic cooperation relationship with domestic first-class logistics enterprises, like JD.com, FAW Logistics Co. Ltd. and other enterprises.
