Academician JIN Zhijun and ZOU Caineng Visit SESS

On August 21, Academician JIN Zhijun and ZOU Caineng from the Chinese Academy of Sciences headed a delegation and visited the School of Earth System Science (SESS). The delegation also included Professor Zhang Shuichang, Director of Research Institute of Petroleum Exploration and Development, and Professor Zhang Lifei, Dean of the School of Earth and Space Sciences from Peking University.

The delegation gave four presentations on the Spirit of Innovation,Shale Oil and Gas Revolution,Into the Earth’s Middle Ages, and UHP metamorphic belt of Tianshan Mountains. Discussions on the frontiers of earth system science and explorations on possible cooperation were made.

During the visit, the delegation visited the History Museum of Tianjin University and the labs at SESS. They spoke highly of TJU’s 125-year development as well as the success of its geology program in its early period, and hoped to develop long-term cooperation of mutual interests.
