In face of global outbreak of COVID-19, the Joint Institute of Tianjin University and National University of Singapore (TJU-NUS Joint Institute) shows great concern about the health and safety of their teachers and students at the associated institute of the National University of Singapore and donated to them 1,500 KN95 masks and 7,300 surgical masks from April 14 to April 27.
A group of students,Liu Yuan, Lu Haotian, Shi Xiangcheng, Zhang Shiyu, An Chuanbin and Ma Yuhan formed a volunteer team to coordinate and distribute the supplies.
The teachers and students who received the donation again donated part of themincluding 850 KN95 masks and 1,000 surgical masksto NUS staff still remaining at their postsand maintaining the normal operation of the campus during the pandemic.
On April 14, the masks were first handed over to the Office of Safety Health & Environment (OSHE) department of the National University of Singapore to assist NUS teachers and students in fighting against the pandemic.
The TJU-NUS Joint Institute was established by Tianjin University, National University of Singapore, Fujian province and Fuzhou city on December 1, 2018. It aims to combine he educational and scientific advantages of the two universities, and become a world-class Sino-Overseas Joint Institute that excels in industry, education and research. So far, the Institute has set up three research centers and an analysis center, and has introduced 20 academic leaders, with 10 from the National University of Singapore and 10 from Tianjin University. It has enrolled 59 doctoral students in 2019.All students enrolled in will participate in studies and scientific researches in accordance with the four-year doctoral education program of the National University of Singapore (NUS) and will eventually receive a doctoral degree in science or engineering from NUS.
