Tianjin University Youth Shouldering their Responsibilities

The youth at Tianjin University show their heartfelt enthusiasm in anti-epidemic activities.

“Standing up to fight against the epidemic is the responsibility entrusted to the youth by the times, it is a call from our motherland, it is our conscience when facing the national crisis, and it is our responsibility as members of the Communist Party.” Said Wan Zhen, working doctoral student of the Medical College, and frontline medical staff member fighting against the epidemic.

Jin Ke, a master’s student from the School of Precision Instruments and Optoelectronics Engineering who was admitted in 2018, said, “I was fortunate to participate in a research project related to rapid virus detection and have made some progress in scientific research. Although I can't fight at the frontline as part of the medical staff, it's good enough to be able to do my best from my position. Just as the front lines of the epidemic need someone to take care of so too does the scientific research side.

Sun Ruiqi, a master’s student from the School of Life Sciences who was admitted in 2019, said, “Although I can't fight the epidemic like other medical workers on the frontline, I can work hard to gain professional knowledge and skills to improve myself. I hope that in the future I will be able to repay society with what I have learned, and contribute my youthful strength where the people need to live up to this great era.”

Other Tianjin University people expressed what they wanted to say through other outlets.

Chen Xiaotao, an alumnus of Tianjin University born in 1990s, painted three cartoons to show the warmth and inspiration.

Shen Tianyi from the College of Intelligence and Computing made WeChat emojis to promote epidemic prevention knowledge.

Paintings by Wang Fanghui from the College of Intelligence and Computing, described as “Angels in white are just a group of ordinary people, dressed in a coat with a great mission.”

Artwork by Li Yanfei from the College of Intelligence and Computing characterized as "This is a heroic city, and the people here are heroes. Come on Wuhan, let's work together to win the war against the epidemic!"

Since the outbreak, everyone has exerted their own power with a common goal. Students of Tianjin University have also contributed to all parts of the country, dedicated themselves, and demonstrated the responsibility and mission of Tianjin University people.

Tianjin University’s passionate support to the frontline workers and their families prompted the launch of an online tutoring activity. This activity staffed by the university’s students aimed to ease the educational worries of medical staff’s children during their continued battle against the virus. One day after the registration information was sent out, more than 800 students from Tianjin University had eagerly signed up to participate as tutors.

Students and teachers alike from Tianjin University used brushes to paint portraits of heroes, to salute the heroes and cheer for Wuhan with calligraphy. They wrote beautiful letters and paid tribute to the most courageous fighters in the country.
