Tianjin University Provides Fresh Graduates with Targeted Employment Service

Teachers in the Career Center of Tianjin University have been very busy recently. They are busy matching and providing service online every day. They also provide a series of personalized services such as screening employment information, docking with employers, one-on-one resume and interview guidance, and publishing targeted jobs, which achieves the precise docking of employment information with graduates.

Liu Fenglin, Deputy Director of the Office of Student Affairs at Tianjin University, recognized that "students are struggling with finding the 'right job in a sea of information' and hoped that "with thorough filtering they could assist students and post relevant information graduates". He added that in order to match the employment information with graduates accurately, three teams in the Office of Student Affairs provide graduates with online services, seven days a week. A team is composed of 16 teachers and student assistants in the career center, which specialize in sorting out the massive recruitment information, summarizing and posting the selected recruitment information of key employers through WeChat every evening. It supports graduates to apply for suitable jobs; a counselor team for graduating classes is established to supervise the employment information in time to help graduates find suitable jobs; another team organizes the development trends and employment information of enterprises according to the graduates jobs in the past three years to match the needs of students.

The targeted docking helps students find suitable jobs faster. According to the employment information sent by teachers, Zhang Yi, a 2016 undergraduate from the School of Electrical and Information Engineering, posted five resumes to his favorite software engineering positions and received five offers. A week later, he passed the first and second interviews and successfully signed within ten days.

Zhang Yi’s success in securing a position as a software engineer was made possible after a one on one meeting with his teacher at the Career Center of Tianjin University. He attended interviews online and by WeChat video calls with HR and technicians. “With the help of my teacher, I firmly determined to be a software engineer and wrote a targeted resume.” he stated when asked to describe the process involved in finding employment.

The Career Center of Tianjin University classifies different recruitment information such as central enterprises, state-owned enterprises, public institutions and large enterprise groups. Tianjin University sorts out the recruitment information in perfect order including company background, recruitment position, demand work city as well as other criteria. The University cares for graduates’ employment intentions, job offers and assists with their difficulties in real time. Counselor teachers provide one-to-one employment services for graduates including situation analysis, resume overhauling and job recommendations.
