Since the outbreak of the novel coronavirus within the country, Tianjin University took measures to care and protect international students living on and off campus.
Provide timely information and advices
Authoritative information about the disease and prevention tips related to the disease were released timely to the students in different languages. The School of International Education provided a public prevention information on the disease in seven languages, namely English, French, Russian, German, Japanese, Korean and Chinese.
In “A letter to TJU international students”, the university informed students about the postponing of the Spring Semester and urged students to pay attention to physical wellbeing, maintain healthy living habits and take effective self-protective measures.
Give psychological consolation and material support
The university attaches great importance to the welfare and safety of international students.
On February 10th, both the university’s Party Secretary, Li Jiajun and the president, Jin Donghan visited the residence of the international students and inspected that certain measures were taken to keep students out of the harm of the disease. They talked with several students and ensured them that help would come in handy from their school and the university whenever it is needed. They also brought with them some sports supplies for the students to encourage them to keep fit by exercising.
Special attention was paid to students’ daily necessities. The School of Chemical Engineering and Technology distributed thermometers to all the students off campus who were unable to purchase one and guided them to read “A Letter to Foreign Students at School of Chemical Engineering and Technology”, and “Notice to Off-campus International Students during the Period of Prevention and Control of 2019 Novel Coronavirus”.
It is learnt now Tianjin University has started education to minimize the disruption to teaching and learning amid the epidemic. Meanwhile, psychological support is provided 24 hours.
