2019 “CoME Model” Awards Ceremony, a Success!

On November 29th, the College of Management and Economics (CoME) held the 2019“CoME Model”Awards Ceremony on the Weijin Road Campus. Thirty-one teachers and students were bestowed the title of“CoME Model” for their outstanding achievements in various areas.

“We started to award students with excellent performance with the title of ‘CoME Model’ in 2017. Then this year we extended the award to the teaching and administrative staff in recognition to their great achievements in scientific research, talent cultivation and social service,” Huo Bofeng, Dean of CoME explained.

The ceremony opened with the historical drama “CoME Model” performed by the undergraduate students of the Class of 2018. The drama vivified how Liu Bao, the first dean of TJU’s Management Department (the predecessor of CoME) started to build management science from scratch and his lifelong contributions to the development of the discipline.

“Through the drama, the teachers and students can learn more about the college history and its culture. Hopefully, they bear the college’s mission in mind and combine their personal dream with the development of the country and its people,” Huo Baofeng noted.

Prof. He Zhen, winner of the Special Contribution Award for Professional Degree Education mentioned in his speech the efforts he and his team made to help Tianjin University become the first institution in China to apply and pass for MBA, EMBA and MPA programs.

Liu Da-yong, winner of the Annual Teaching Award thanked CoME for encouraging young faculty to devote themselves to teaching and thanked CoME senior faculty for their guidance and help. “I will follow the lead of our predecessors and try to be a more qualified teacher.” Liu said.

Feng Hai-yang, winner of the Annual Science Award said, “My identity changed from a student to a teacher at CoME, but the dedication and love for scholarship and the pursuit of scientific research remain the same.” Feng also expressed his gratitude to his tutor Professor Li Min-qiang. “Every progress I’ve made came from the cultivation of CoME and the careful guidance of my tutor. He guided me to think seriously about my academic career, learn to avoid arrogance and impetuousness and keep my eyes on the top journals.I was impressed by his scholarly charm.”

Li Ying, winner of the Annual Contribution Award reviewed her work experience at CoME. She has always adhered to the principle of “work with strength, live with patience” to meet the needs of every teacher.

Taking his own experience as an example, Liu Yan, winner of the Academic Newcomer Award called on students to think about what kind of person they want to become, set a goal and stick to it.

Huo Bao-feng expressed his congratulations to the teachers and students in his concluding speech and encouraged the students to learn from the models and become a better self.

Shou-feng Ma, Party Secretary of CoME, alumni representatives and student mentors from companies were present at the ceremony.
