The 2019 China Biomedical Engineering Conference and Medical Innovation Summit was held in Jinan, Shandong Province from November 14-16. Postgraduate students from the Academy of Medical Engineering and Translational Medicine attended the conference. Doctoral student Liu Xiaoya won the first prize for the Excellent Youth Thesis in the Youth Forum of the Chinese Society of Biomedical Engineering (CSBME). Postgraduate student He Wenxin won the prize for excellence in the parallel sessions of the first youth researcher competition of the medical imaging engineering and technology branch.
With the theme of "Integrate and develop both medical and engineering technology, innovation leads the future", the conference held nearly 10 high-end forums and organized more than 20 professional branch venues. These forums were set up to display new products, technologies and achievements. Several discussion activities were also held. The conference covered
neural engineering, medical imaging, biomedical testing, rehabilitation engineering, biomaterials, tissue engineering and regenerative medicine, medical artificial intelligence, medical device innovation etc.
In the Youth Forum of the CSBME, Liu Xiaoya delivered a report entitled Study on electrophysiological targets of depression based on high frequency oscillations of resting EEG and introduced the team’s latest research results in detail. The judges were interested in the new discovery of the allorhythmia of resting electroencephalogram (EEG) high frequency oscillation of depression patients and proposed combining Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and EEGs to realize the detection of high temporal resolution and high case resolution so as to achieve accurate target positioning and provide assistance for clinical auxiliary medical treatment.
In the first youth researcher competition of medical imaging engineering and technology branch, He Wenxin introduced and showed the work results of her team. She pointed out that the Department of Medicine’s research team of the has developed a series of original research results in the non-invasive and minimally invasive diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer, melanoma, cervical cancer, nasopharyngeal cancer and other superficial malignant tumors by means of photoacoustic integration, diagnosis and treatment integration, medicine and equipment integration, medicine and engineering integration on the basis of preliminary research. At the meeting, the expert judges gave unanimous praise to the new strategy of using exogenous means to solve endogenous tumor problems, and gave constructive suggestions for clinical application.
