A Tianjin University Delegation Visits Israel

Zhang Fengbao, vice president of Tianjin University, led a delegation to visit Israel from November 21 to 24.

On November 21, the delegation visited Tel Aviv University in Israel. Prof. Raanan Rein, and Mr. Porat Regev, coordinator of Asian Affairs of the international school, as well as Udi Aharoni, academic director of Rahaf executive education of the Kohler School of Management, met with the Tianjin University delegation. Vice President Zhang noted that Tianjin University and Tel Aviv University have a history of exchanges and visits, and there is potential for the two sides to gradually expand the scope of cooperation, starting with the "point-to-point" scientific cooperation among teachers, based on their common advantages in disciplines. After the talks, both sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation.

The delegation then visited the Technion University in Israel. Shimon Marom, vice President of Academic Affairs of the university, Ms. Yoketyng Frechtel of the international department, Ms. Naomi Bitansky, Director of the Reception Center, and other officials met with the delegation. The two sides exchanged views and reached consensus on the exchange of faculty and students. After the talks, the two sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation and a student exchange agreement.

On November 22, the delegation visited the Israeli branch of China Civil Engineering Corporation and Israel Jiangsu Innovation Center. Zhang expressed the hope that Tianjin University could strengthen cooperation with Chinese enterprises, improve the mechanism for technology commercialization and share scientific and technological innovation achievements abroad.

On November 23, the delegation held talks with Dai Yuming, an official of the Chinese embassy in Israel. Dai Yuming said that with the deepening of scientific and technological cooperation between the two governments and the exchanges between faculty and students among universities of the two countries will become increasingly close. Zhang said that Tianjin University and the Israeli universities have a great capacity for cooperation in science and commercialization of innovative achievements.
