LOH XIU YU: A Malaysian Girl Keen on Studying

LOH XIU YU, born in Malaysia, is a freshman at Tianjin University’s School of Chemical Engineering and Technology. She speaks Chinese and English fluently, and scored 8.5 on the International English Language Testing System which is the high-stakes English test for study, migration or work before she came to study at TJU.

To enrich her knowledge and experience different cultures, LOH decided to study in China. LOH stated. “I chose to study chemistry as my major, because I think it is closely related to both industrial production and daily life. It is interesting and will prove very useful in my future life.” She was especially interested in dealing with climate change through her knowledge of chemistry.

When asked which of the two campuses she preferred, she said that she liked the new campus more for its tranquility. “Different from the Weijin Road Campus, which is downtown, the new campus has light traffic, is very quiet and a perfect place to study.” She hoped that she would do excellent academic work and have a colorful college life at TJU.
