Symphonic Chorus Concert to Celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of PRC

On the evening of September 25, Tianjin University held an amazing symphonic and choral concert in the Tianjin Concert Hall to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

With more than 600 students, teachers, alumni and people from all walks of life in attendance, the Peiyang Symphony Orchestra and Peiyang Chorus of Tianjin University, brought the audience an audio-visual feast with their reflective symphonic movement and exquisite chorus, which with zest and warmth showed the cultural background and rhythm of the times.

This concert was conducted by Tianjin University’s own professor and renowned conductor Ren Baoping. The Peiyang Symphony Orchestra and Peiyang Chorus performed the work "university" together. This was the first symphonic and chorus piece with the theme of "university" in China, which was composed by Chen Lechang of the Peiyang Arts Troupe of Tianjin University and a professor at Tianjin Conservatory of Music. The lyrics were crafted by Wu You, a famous lyricist. Based on the development China’s higher education, the work displayed the ideal of "revitalizing the country through promoting education" with the magnificent energy of an orchestra and chorus. It called on the teachers and students to broaden their horizons, while improving their characters and morals, also, fostering the courage to struggle, so as to contribute to the motherland and the new era.

At the end of the concert, the audience en masse crooned the song "My Motherland and Me", which pushed the atmosphere to a climax. The song expressed the infinite pride in the hearts of all present and the deep blessing to the motherland.

Since 2019, Tianjin University and Tianjin Concert Hall have been exploring the creation of the "sound of heaven" public benefit concert brand, holding various forms of aesthetic education activities, spreading elegant art, and jointly realizing the prosperity of urban culture and aesthetic education of the school.
