School of Civil Engineering Holds Academic Seminar

On July 16th, the School of Civil Engineering held an academic seminar that aimed to promote the construction of emerging engineering education, stimulate international exchanges and cooperation, and further the development of excellent innovative engineering talents. Two international experts were invited to deliver reports about their recent scientific research.

Dr.Kong Xiangxiong, an assistant professor from the University of Guam, USA gave two speeches aboutstructural health monitoringwith the titles of “Fatigue Crack Monitoring in Steel Bridges Using A Smart Sensing Skin” and “Vision-Based Approaches for Structural Inspection of Civil Infrastructure”. He focused on two structural health monitoring methods using smart sensing skin and the vision-based approaches. He also discussed the applicability of these methods. Dr Kong then talked about the durability of the smart sensing skin, and data collection and processing methods.
