The 2019 Undergraduate Graduation Ceremony Held

On July 2, 2019, about 4,000 graduates of the 2019 undergraduate class attended the graduation ceremony for the 2019 undergraduates of Tianjin University (TJU). They sang My Motherland and I in chorus in the TJU gymnasium, bidding farewell to the university through song. Jin Donghan, President of Tianjin University, encouraged the graduates with the earnest advice of "Being a TJUer of value". More than 1,000 parents witnessed this exciting moment in the auditorium.

The school leaders, alumni and teachers’ representatives sent their best wishes and advice to the graduates.

The ceremony opened with the solemn and magnificent national anthem.

Yuan Xubo, Deputy Director of the Office of Academic Affairs, read out the Decision on Graduation and Degree Granting for Undergraduates of Tianjin University in 2019.

President Jin Donghan shared with the graduates his thoughts and feelings about being a member of TJU. He congratulated them on graduating and expressed his wish that they will make their dreams light up the world through their unremitting efforts, saying that Tianjin University will always be the strong backing, spiritual home and warm harbor of the graduates and will accompany them along the way. He urged everyone to open up new ways of thinking, keep practicing and stick to their initial dreams. He encouraged the students to be good at solving various problems with an innovative spirit and thinking, make innovation a habit and strive to become creative. Not only should TJU students look up to the stars, but also they should be down-to-earth, taking everything seriously, taking the initiative, being realistic and diligent in practice. It is also necessary that they adhere to patriotism and the initial ambition, realize their own value and serve the country and social community.

Liu Dashan, an alumni representative, Yang Jiajia, a young teacher in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, the School of Precision Instruments and Optoelectronics Engineering, Zhou Xiaoyu, an English major student of the School of Foreign Languages and Literature, A Mu Er Jin (阿木尔金), a graduate of the School of Architecture who is from Mongolia, spoke at the event to share their experience and feelings, expressed their congratulations, best wishes and advice.

Before the end of the ceremony, all the graduates sang the school song. Subsequently, the graduates went to stage one by one to give the flowers to their most respected teachers. The leaders and representatives of the university awarded them degrees andturned the tassels for them.

Inside and outside the gymnasium, the students embraced their parents to celebrate and took pictures with their classmates and friends to commemorate the moment, which is both an end and a starting point.
