TJU Team Wins Championships in Tianjin Faculty and Staff Gas Volleyball Competition

On June 22, the Tianjin University faculty and staff team won both the men’s and women’s championships in the Tianjin faculty and staff gas volleyball competition. 31 teams from Tianjin institutions of education participated in the event. It was a five-a-side gas volleyball competition, divided into two groups: the men's group (4 men and 1 woman) and the women's group (4 women and 1 man).

Gas volleyball, originating in China, is a mass volleyball that allows people of all ages to exercise and relax at the same time. As gas volleyball is a kind of large yet light ball made of soft plastic, it feels comfortable and is safe to play. It is a sport that can be played both indoors and outdoors.

During the competition, the TJU team developed great teamwork, displayed wonderful skills and made beautiful attacks. The women team members repeatedly rolled and dove to save the ball. When falling behind in the pivotal match, the team did not give up but persevered, keeping the faith and ultimately winning. In the finals, the men's team fought against the team of Tianjin University of Sport, showed tactical teamwork when falling behind and finally turned the tables and won the game.

The champion team of this competition will represent the Tianjin Education Trade Unions to participate in the national competition.

Tianjin University has a good environment for gas volleyball. More than 200 faculty and staff participated in the gas volleyball competition held in March this year.
