The College of Management and Economics (CoME) organized a research team and went to Tanchang County in Gansu Province from April 19-22 to conduct an on-the-spot investigation about targeted poverty alleviation.

The team led by Bao-chen Yang, the Vice Dean of CoME, first visited Tanchang Public Service Center of Electronic Business Affairs and learnt about the important role E-commerce plays in poverty alleviation. They offered professional suggestions on the center’s customer targeting, pricing strategy and quality supervision. Professor Hui-ying Zhang and Feng Guo, a young teacher, studied the specific problems the center faces in terms of cost, recruiting and available resources. They advised the center to solicit more policy support from the government and construct a better online mall.
