Tianjin University Shortlisted for THE Awards Asia 2019

Tianjin University has been shortlisted in the International Strategy of the Year category of the inaugural Times Higher Education Awards Asia.

Nearly 80 universities from 21 countries and regions took part in Times Higher Education’s first awards ceremony celebrating the achievement of Asian universities across five categories. Eight institutions have made the shortlist for the International Strategy of the Year category of this event, including Tianjin University, Istanbul Gelisim University, National University of Singapore, O.P. Jindal Global University, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), Tokyo City University, Wenzhou Medical University, and Zhejiang University.

In recent years, Tianjin University has paid attention to enhancing its international influence. In terms of international strategic cooperation, the University signed cooperation agreements with prestigious universities around the world, including Georgia Institute of Technology and the National University of Singapore, to co-construct international campuses. In terms of international education accreditation, the Office of International Affairs for the Washington Accord Higher Education Evaluation Center of the Ministry of Education has been established at Tianjin University. In terms of attraction of international talents, Nobel laureate James Fraser Stoddart from the School of Pharmaceutical Science and Technology of Tianjin University, won the 2018 China International Science and Technology Cooperation Award. In terms of cultivation of international students, the total number of international students at Tianjin University has increased to 3,798, and the number of countries has increased to 147.

The winners of the 2019 THE Awards Asia, were announced on Wednesday 1 May 2019 at the Emirates Palace, Abu Dhabi.
