On November 20, the 11th “Most Highly Regarded Graduate Supervisor” Award Ceremony was held at Peiyangyuan Campus. TJU Vice President Wang Shuxin and leaders from relevant offices, along with the 24 nominated supervisors, representatives of newly employed teachers and doctoral supervisors, as well as graduate student representatives attended the event.
The selection for the Award consisted of three steps – students’ recommendations, the first-round selection at the school level and the final selection at the university level. After evaluation, the 10 “Most Highly Regarded Graduate Supervisors” and 14 “Well Regarded Supervisors” were finally selected. The “Top 10 Supervisors” were Sun Youhai from the Law School, Liu Zhiqiang from the School of Environmental Science and Engineering, Yao Mingfa from the School of Mechanical Engineering, Liu Tiegen from the School of Precision Instruments and Optoelectronics Engineering, Zhang Anmin from the School of Marine Science and Technology, Xiao Mi from the School of Electrical and Information Engineering, He Ping from the School of Education, Tao Wenyuan from the College of Intelligence and Computing, Liang Xiaojie from the College of Management and Economics, and Qi Lan from the School of Civil Engineering.
Wang Shuxin awarded the prizes to the supervisors and pointed out that supervisors were the key ingredient in the cultivation of graduate students and they shouldered the responsibility for training high-level students for the nation. Tianjin University Guidelines for Implementing the Duties of Graduate Supervisors was issued at the ceremony. It is designed to act in the spirit of the Ideological and Political Work in Colleges and Universities National Conference and to build on the role of professional and caring supervisors who maintain beliefs and moral sentiments.
