The global Production and Operations Management Society (POMS) announced that Mao Zhaofang, Vice-Dean of the College of Management and Economics at Tianjin University, was elected as the Vice Chairman of POMS for a three-year term from January 2019 to December 2021.
Four Vice-Chairmen at POMS are responsible for the four regions of the Americas, Europe, Asia, plus Australia, and Africa. Mao Zhaofang is the second scholar from the mainland of China to be elected to this position in the history of the POMS Council, and the only member from the Asian and Australian regions on the Council. His election will not only help the world's experts, scholars and industry elites to more deeply understand the rapid development of China's manufacturing and service industry through the POMS platform, but also further promote China and other countries in the world to use production operation and management technology to promote social and economic development experience and exchange.
In 2018, Mao Zhaofang, as one of the main initiators of POMS International Series Conference (China), actively promoting four domestic universities that were strong in production and operation management, including Tianjin University, to apply to POMS for hosting the POMS International Series Conference in China. In addition, the 2019 POMS International Conference in China will be held at Tianjin University from June 21 to 24, 2019. This conference will provide a broader and more convenient academic exchange and discussion environment for scholars in the field of POMS in China, as well as a good opportunity for scholars from various countries to carry out cooperation and exchange with China.
POMS is an international professional organization representing the interests of POM professionals from around the world.
