This year marks the 40th anniversary of Arbor Day in China. On March 16, Tianjin University (TJU) held the inaugural ceremony of the alumni crabapple tree grove.
During the ceremony, the alumni earthed up and watered the trees. The Alumni Association, Peiyang Education Development Foundation and the Logistics Department at TJU will preserve this grove together. Showcasing the alumni’s gratitude, the grove will contribute to an elegant and pleasant environment for teachers and students.
First year undergraduate students from the College of Management and Economics also participated in the activity to help plant the trees. From 1995 to 2018, planting crabapple trees has become a kind of tradition. The Logistics Department gave their support to this activity and sent technical staff to fasten and trim the trees to help them thrive. Far more is being planted than just trees. Dreams and faith in the continued success and growth at TJU are being planted as well.
