Tianjin University’s School of Synthetic Biology and Biomanufacturing has donated books, stationery, sports equipment and laptop computers to Muerxiang Primary School in Dangchang County, northwest China’s Gansu Province, as part of its efforts to support rural education and carry forward the spirit of Lei Feng. The donation followed the school’s earlier contribution of 61 computers to another local primary school, expanding its assistance to children in remote mountainous areas.

To help improve teaching and learning conditions at the school, the college launched a donation drive among teachers and students across the university, calling for contributions of extracurricular books, picture books and stationery. It also purchased new sports supplies and stationery, and prepared five laptop computers to support classroom teaching. All of the donated materials have now been delivered to Muerxiang Primary School.
Jin Xuefeng, deputy secretary of the Party committee of the School of Synthetic Biology and Biomanufacturing, said the donation was intended to help open a wider window to the world for the children and light their way forward through knowledge.
The principal of Muerxiang Primary School said the donation had greatly improved the children’s learning conditions. The books and sports equipment enriched both classroom and extracurricular activities, while the newly donated computers will better support daily teaching activities.
The books and sports equipment enrich students’ learning and after-school activities, while the newly donated computers provide additional support for classroom teaching.
The initiative is part of the university’s continued efforts to fulfill its social responsibility and promote more balanced access to educational resources. The donation is part of the university’s ongoing support for rural education. Similar efforts will continue to help bring better learning conditions to children in remote areas.
