Tianjin University has opened its upgraded outdoor ice-skating rink to students and staff, offering a shared winter space that enriches campus life and supports well-being during the colder months.

Located near Teaching Building 55, the rink now covers approximately 1,800 square meters, nearly double the size of last year’s facility. Newly added skating carts include single-seat cartoon-animal designs and double-seat carts, making the rink accessible to users of different skill levels while encouraging interaction and shared experiences.

The ice surface has quickly become a popular gathering place, filled with laughter and activity. “The rivers outside the campus have not fully frozen yet, but the university created an ice rink for us—it was a real surprise,” said Yuan Mengya, a first-year master’s student from the School of Education. She noted that skating during exam preparation offers a welcome break, helping ease academic and research pressure while creating opportunities to connect with friends and peers.
The ice-skating rink provides a welcoming space for relaxation and connection, reflecting Tianjin University’s ongoing commitment to student-centered development and a people-oriented campus environment.
