CBPM, Tianjin University Launch Joint R&D Laboratory

China Banknote Printing and Minting Group (CBPM) and Tianjin University have launched a Joint Laboratory of Functional Materials on Dec. 11.

The partnership, formalized between CBPM’s subsidiary China Banknote Ink Co., Ltd. and the Tianjin University School of Chemical Engineering, aims to advance research and development in high-end anti-counterfeiting materials and technologies.

Tianjin University President Chai Liyuan welcomed the initiative, stating the collaboration would strengthen ties between industry and academia. "Through shared platforms, joint research, and talent development, we aim to integrate our strengths to foster innovation," President Chai said.

Yang Lijie, Chairman of CBPM, emphasized the group's commitment to high-quality development, stating that "the joint laboratory will serve as a platform for deeper cooperation, and for accelerating the translation of research outcomes into practical industrial applications."

University officials stated that the laboratory will focus on addressing key technological challenges and accelerating the commercialization of scientific discoveries. The collaboration builds on existing industry-university-research projects between the two institutions since 2022.

The agreement was signed and the laboratory plaque was unveiled in a ceremony witnessed by senior leaders from both organizations.
