On December 16th, Ming Dong, Vice President of Tianjin University, led a delegation to conduct an investigation and research in Hainan Lingshui Li’an International Education Innovation Pilot Zone. He held in-depth exchanges with Wu Haifeng, Secretary of the Lingshui Li Autonomous County Party Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of the Pilot Zone Administration Bureau, Liu Ming, Executive Deputy Director of the Pilot Zone Administration Bureau, and the core operation team of the park. The discussions focused on the advancement of Sino-foreign cooperative education projects and the further construction of Tianjin University Hainan International College. The purpose of this research is to accelerate the process of Tianjin University’s Sino-foreign cooperative education in Hainan through on-site visits and exchanges. Representatives from the Office of International Cooperation and the School of Management and Economics of Tianjin University participated in the visit.
The delegation conducted a comprehensive on-site inspection of the core infrastructure of the pilot zone, visiting key areas such as the pilot zone library, coastal stadium, public teaching buildings, Student Living Area 2, and faculty apartments. They gained a detailed understanding of the construction of teaching hardware facilities and living support systems in the pilot zone. The delegation also specially surveyed the planned land for Tianjin University’s exclusive building.

During the forum, the Pilot Zone Administration Bureau detailed the development overview of the park, focusing on interpreting a package of support measures tailored for settled universities, including school-running condition guarantees, talent introduction and support policies, and the construction of scientific research and innovation platforms. Ming Dong first introduced the latest progress of Tianjin University’s Sino-foreign cooperative education projects with partners such as the University of Reading, UK, as well as the preparations for enrollment in 2026. He stated that relying on units such as the School of Management and Economics, the university will go to Hainan in the spring semester to carry out a “school-running pressure test” and actively plan the cooperation direction of “Management+” interdisciplinary programs. This aims to promote the in-depth integration of advantageous disciplines with Hainan’s industries and contribute “Tianjin University’s strength” to the construction of the pilot zone.

This research marks that the construction of Tianjin University Hainan International College has entered a new stage of substantive advancement from the preliminary planning, pointing out a clear path for subsequent work. The university will fully rely on relevant national A+ disciplines such as Management Science and Engineering, give play to the interdisciplinary advantages of a comprehensive university, focus on the strategic positioning and key industries of Hainan Free Trade Port, and promote the in-depth integration of Tianjin University’s education chain and talent chain with Hainan’s industrial chain and innovation chain. It will build Hainan International College into a benchmark for Sino-foreign cooperative education that serves national strategies and empowers regional development.
