Congratulations to Prof. Zhen Tian, newly named Optica Fellow

We are pleased to share that Professor Zhen Tian, Vice Dean of the School of Precision Instrument and Optoelectronics Engineering at Tianjin University, has been elected a Fellow of Optica (formerly the Optical Society of America, OSA). The 2026 class of Optica Fellows was announced recently. Professor Tian is recognized for his sustained innovations and contributions in terahertz photonics and optoelectronic devices.

Being named an Optica Fellow is a distinguished honor in the optics and photonics community. Fellows are selected through a rigorous process and are recognized for serving with distinction in advancing the field.

Founded in 1916, Optica is one of the world’s leading nonprofit societies in optics and photonics, bringing together researchers, engineers, and educators from more than 100 countries and regions. The society supports fundamental research, promotes the translation of technology, and fosters global academic exchange. Fellowship is a meaningful acknowledgement of international peer recognition.

Professor Tian’s selection is a warm affirmation of his personal achievements and also reflects the strong momentum of the university's optical engineering discipline. Looking ahead, the School of Precision Instrument and Optoelectronics Engineering will continue to build on its strengths, support colleagues in exploring frontier areas, and strive to deliver high-quality innovative outcomes that contribute to the development of optical engineering and serve national strategic needs.
