During the 2025 China–Europe Dialogue of Engineering Universities Presidents at Tongji University, Tianjin University Vice President Ming Dong delivered a keynote speech entitled “AI-Empowered Reform and Development of Engineering Education.”

He discussed how artificial intelligence is transforming engineering education, emphasized the advancement of new engineering initiatives, and called for a more collaborative ecosystem to cultivate innovative talent.
Ming outlined practical approaches to integrating AI into the engineering curriculum and establishing new models for talent training aligned with future industrial and societal needs. He proposed developing an international, open-access AI education resource platform and strengthening mechanisms for industry–education integration, encouraging enterprises to take a more active role in talent development.
The dialogue brought together presidents of leading Chinese and European universities, scholars, and business representatives to explore the future of China–Europe cooperation in higher education and the training of world-class engineers. Tianjin University’s participation demonstrated its commitment to educational innovation and its role in promoting global collaboration in engineering education.
