【130th Anniversary】Professor Urges Educators to Inspire the Next Generation

Speaking as the faculty representative at Tianjin University’s high-quality development conference marking its 130th founding anniversary, Professor Yu Yixin called on educators to act as “stepping stones” for the next generation and to serve as answerers to the demands of their era.

In his remarks, Yu traced his own journey from being a student to becoming a teacher over seven decades and reflected on how his mentors’ dedication and moral character shaped his path in teaching and research. He underscored the importance of upholding the university’s founding spirit and of shouldering responsibilities in original basic research and strategic technological innovation.

He pointed to Tianjin University’s evolution into a comprehensive, research-oriented, globally engaged institution, with multiple disciplines interwoven beyond its engineering roots. Yu called on faculty to continue nurturing top-tier talent equipped with creativity, critical thinking, and social responsibility, thereby contributing to the nation’s modernization and scientific strength.
