From July 11 to 14, the 2025 POMS International Conference in China, with the theme "Digital and Intelligent Operations Empowering Management Innovation and Transformation," was held in Danzhou, Hainan Province.
The conference was hosted by Tianjin University, co-organized by Xi'an Jiaotong University, Zhejiang University, and the University of Science and Technology of China, with special support from Hainan University. Over 1,400 experts and scholars from around the world gathered to share this academic feast, exchange cutting-edge insights, and explore new opportunities in operations management development.
On the morning of July 12, the grand opening ceremony was held.
Xiao Songshan, POMS Executive Director GUPTA (online), Subodha KUMAR, and Zhang Chao delivered speeches respectively, while Mao Zhaofang introduced the current conference situation. Professor Christoph LOCH, Professor Chen Xiaohong, Professor Tang Lixin, Professor Zhou Xiang, and Vice President Xiang Feng delivered keynote speeches at the conference.
During the conference, 24 parallel sessions and 192 sub-forums were set up, where experts and scholars from home and abroad gathered to discuss how digital and intelligent operations empower management innovation and transformation. In addition, the conference also held a Deans Forum and 6 special lectures. Each parallel session focused on different research hotspots and cutting-edge topics, sparking lively discussions and intellectual collisions.
To encourage young scholars to innovate and promote breakthroughs in academic theory development, after rigorous review by the POMS Best Student Paper Review Committee, the conference finally selected 2 first prizes, 2 second prizes, 6 third prizes, and 11 nomination awards.

The opening ceremony was chaired by Professor Liu Weihua, Chair of the Conference Organizing Committee and Chair Professor at Tianjin University.
As the most influential international academic organization in the field of production and operations management, the Production and Operations Management Society (POMS) has been committed to promoting global academic research and practical innovation in production and operations management since its establishment. The successful hosting of this conference by Tianjin University not only demonstrates the university's long-term academic accumulation in the field of production and operations management, but also establishes a high-end dialogue platform connecting global wisdom with Chinese practice. It provides scholars in the POMS field across China with a broader and more convenient environment for academic exchange and discussion, while also offering scholars from various countries excellent opportunities to engage in multifaceted cooperation and exchange in China.
