Tianjin University Signs Strategic Cooperation Agreement with Wuhai Municipal People's Government

The signing ceremony of the Framework Agreement on Comprehensive Scientific and Technological Cooperation between Wuhai Municipal People's Government and Tianjin University was held at Tianjin University on January 15, 2019.

The two parties will carry out all-round cooperation in military-civilian integration R&D, project cooperation, commercialization, platform development, and talent introduction, so as to achieve mutual benefit and win-win development. Leaders attending to the event included Party Secretary Li Jiajun and Vice President Yuan Yingjin from Tianjin University, and Secretary of the Wuhai Municipal Party Committee Shi Wanjun, Executive Vice Mayor Quan Juemin, and Vice Mayor Cao Hong from Wuhai Municipal Government.

At the signing ceremony, Party Secretary Li Jiajun pointed out that in recent years, Tianjin University has launched a new plan to establish a world-class university with Chinese characteristics and Tianjin University style. Tianjin University has stepped onto the stage of fast development and made a great number of achievements in major scientific research areas and talent training. With the mission of national revitalization, Tianjin University will steadfastly pursue the major demands of the country, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and Wuhai City in economic development, and work together with Wuhai City to build a set of management systems and operation mechanisms conducive to industry-university-research institute cooperation and local industrial development. Both parties will make full use of the resources and industrial strengths of Wuhai and the science and technology and human resources strengths of Tianjin University, so as to achieve a leap-forward in the development of scientific and technological innovation, implement the strategy of innovation-driven development and military-civilian integration development, thus promoting the industrial structure of Wuhai to reach a higher quality.

Shi Wanjun indicated that the comprehensive scientific and technological strategic cooperation between Wuhai and Tianjin University is not only an opportunity for Tianjin University to give full play to its disciplinary strengths and serve local economic and social development needs, but also an important opportunity for Wuhai to achieve its new development plans, and take advantage of external strengths and help seek high-level development. Wuhai attaches great importance to substantial cooperation with Tianjin University, and will spare no effort to improve policies, build platforms and provide excellent services, so as to promote effective cooperation between the two sides and realize mutual benefit and win-win development.

Quan Juemin and Yuan Yingjin signed the Comprehensive Scientific and Technological Cooperation Framework Agreement between Wuhai Municipal People's Government and Tianjin University on behalf of each side. An Yong, Chairman of Wuhai Tianyu Science and Technology Group, and Hu Wenbin, Dean of the School of Materials Science and Engineering at Tianjin University signed the Strategic Cooperation Agreement between Inner Mongolia Tianyu Innovation Investment Group and School of Materials Science and Engineering at Tianjin University on behalf of each side. Shi Wanjun and Li Jiajun witnessed the signing.

According to the agreement, Wuhai Municipal People's Government and Tianjin University will build a close and long-term cooperative mechanism based on the needs of economic and social development and the characteristics of the industrial structure of the Wuhai city and the advantages of scientific research, disciplines and talents of Tianjin University to achieve a win-win development of a high-quality local economy and enhancement of the disciplines of the university. Among them, the two parties will continue to promote key cooperation projects of military-civilian integration between the Tianyu Group and the School of Materials Science and Engineering of Tianjin University. With technical support from Tianjin University, policy and financial support from the Wuhai Municipal Government and project departments, both parties will jointly build a industry-university-research institute cooperation base to accelerate the transfer and commercialization of high-tech achievements and scientific research resources from Tianjin University to Wuhai, and the realization of high-quality economic development in Wuhai City and help Tianjin University speed up the establishment of a world-class university.
